Q. My grandchildren have been playing with my first generation iPad, and there is now no sound from it! Can you help me, please?

A. There is a small switch on the upper right hand side of the iPad. This has two uses: to lock the screen to stop it reorientating when you rotate the tablet, or to mute the sound - you chose which in the General part of the iPad's Settings menu. Toggle the switch and the sound should return. If it doesn't, the little devils may have just turned the volume down, so push the volume key.
