AVIVA: FOR INFORMATION - PHISHING SCAMS.

Dear Members,

The Company have warned us of a sophisticated scam using the Aviva name and your Committee believes we should forward their message on to our Members so you can be on your guard against it.

The message from the Company is:-

We have been made aware of a new phishing scam (phishing is a type of social engineering where an attacker sends a fraudulent e.g., spoofed, fake, or otherwise deceptive, message designed to trick a person into revealing sensitive information to the attacker.) where criminals are sending "Aviva branded" malicious emails to 3rd parties to trick them into clicking unsafe links or releasing information. Members of the public have reported receiving phishing emails, the latest examples of which are coming from @mail-myaviva.com using the name of a genuine member of staff. This is an example of what the email looks like:-

I hope you are doing well. Just checking to see if you received the secure email from AVIVA last week as we are yet to receive your response on the matter. I'm looking forward to hearing from you. Please let me know if you didn't receive the email so that I can resend it.

Aviva have received 9 reports within the last 24 hours.

If you are contacted by any of your members regarding receipt of a suspicious email you should tell them not to respond to the email and that this should be referred to keepingyousafe@aviva.com immediately.
